We are looking for a Embedded Software Engineer to join their R&D team and play a crucial role in the design and development of their safety critical Medical Devices across the full software development lifecycle (Requirements capture, analysis, design, development and test).

Ideally, you will also have control systems experience, as part of the role will be working on the creation and tuning of PID loops, and the design and implementation of control algorithms e.g. pneumatics valves, actuators, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordination of all software product lifecycle activities leading to successful project implementation
  • Creates, shares and documents code using appropriate methodologies
  • Review and interpretation of product specifications
  • Proposes and implements improvements to technology and process
  • Collaborates on solutions for multiple projects
  • Preparation of technical specifications, test plans and operational documentation
  • Software configuration management and version control
  • Develop and maintain a high level of communication with the hardware engineers related to current projects and product design
  • Assists with the support and development of software engineers by providing advice and mentoring
Experience required:
  • Embedded C & C++ experience.
  • Embedded multithreaded application development using an RTOS e.g. FreeRTOS.
  • Creation and tuning of PID loops.
  • Exposure to UML.
  • Agile Development with SOLID Design Principles
  • Verification preferably within a regulatory controlled environment, Design Review, Static Analysis, Code reviews, Unit Test, System Test
  • Software configuration management e.g., SVN/GIT
Nice to have’s:
  • Interpretation of electronic schematic diagrams, uProcessor datasheets and reference manuals
  • MATLAB
  • Working within a regulated software environment
  • Multi-processor safety critical systems
  • Unit Test tools
  • BDD / TDD
  • SonarQube, CppDepend, Lint
  • ARM development environments
  • Build pipelines e.g. Jenkins

    We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join their R&D team, who will play a crucial role in the design of their medical device. They will be responsible for creating the technology foundation that allows successful implementation of projects that meet regulatory standards.

    Key Responsibilities:
    - Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the R&D department (Mechanical, Electronics, Software).
    - Design and develop system architectures, components, and interfaces for medical devices, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices.
    - Conduct system integration, testing, and validation activities to ensure the performance, reliability, and safety of medical devices throughout the development lifecycle.
    - Support the development of risk management documentation, in accordance with regulatory requirements such as ISO13485 and FDA guidelines.

    Qualifications:
    - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
    - Proven experience in systems engineering within the medical device industry, including knowledge of regulatory requirements such as ISO 13485 and FDA guidelines.
    - Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, testing, and validation.
    - Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    - Experience with risk management processes and techniques applied to medical device development projects.

    Senior Product Engineer

    Our client is an innovative Medical Device company who are looking to expand the Team with a Senior Product Engineer who will play a leading role within the Engineering Group in relation to product development, focusing primarily on the development and release of the system, but also helping with electronics/mechanical design aspects.

    Responsibilities:

    - Be Subject Matter Expert in product design from concept and prototyping through to Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
    - Act as technical lead on product compliance approvals as well as hardware verification and validation activities
    - Provide investigation and root-cause analysis services for hardware-related technical issues.
    - Support the Software Engineers on existing and future product development activities.
    - Providing technical support for all hardware related matters between business divisions, key suppliers and development partners.
    - Conduct directed research and development of hardware, consumable design and ancillary equipment/ software applications.
    - Steer whole product lifecycle hardware maintenance and improvement, share experience and knowledge with colleagues as required
    - Support as required manufacturing activities and technical service function
    - Prepare hardware for external studies and trials and ongoing hardware support
    - Produce work instructions, operating procedures and technical documentation for required purpose

    Skills:

    - 5+ years’ experience in end to end product design: from concept to manufacturing
    - Expertise in achieving IVD or medical product compliance for European and USA market.
    - Able to create robust, high-level product design that will optimise usability, manufacturability, reliability and COGS for commercial realisation.
    - The ability to manage multiple strands of diverse activity simultaneously.
    - Self-directed technical project management with minimal supervision

    Nice to haves:

    - Electronic design for FCC, EMC, CE, UKCA and CB Scheme compliance
    - Experience within Design, assembly and debugging of microprocessor-controlled electronic circuits and embedded software environments
    - Experience in optoelectronics, PID temperature control and related circuitry design
    - Knowledge of reliability testing techniques
    - Experience of working in a small company
    - Managing test protocols, test studies scope and multiple external test houses.
    - Use of Altium or other schematic capture package

    Qualifications

    - Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar
